What is an inspection hoist and how does it work?
Inspection hoists are used by blind and shade manufacturers in the window covering industry. Hoists are designed to inspect flaws on a blind or shade. Flaws include, but are not limited to, imperfections on the fabric/material, the functionality of the blind or shade itself, and improper tolerance of the blind or shade. An inspection hoist can be a standalone piece of equipment or it can be attached to an existing machine like a cutting table.
Operating an inspection hoist is simple and quick. The operator mounts the shade onto the inspection hoist. Mounting the shade to the hoist is much quicker and easier than actually mounting the shade. The hoist operates in an up and down motion bringing the attached shade with it. The vertical movement is operated by the worker via a switch or pedal that raises the hoist and attached shade. From there, the operator is able to examine the shade without worrying about damaging or harming the shade. From the shade's raised position, the operator is able to examine for fabric flaws or possible telescoping of the shade. If a flaw is noticed, the shade can be brought back to its starting position and the flaw may be fixed without removed the shade from its mount.
How can an inspection hoist help?
Inspection hoists allow window covering companies to quickly and efficiently inspect roller shades and blinds. The hoist allows the operator to quickly inspect potential flaws and issues and to correct them before the shade is shipped. Correcting the flaws while the shade is mounted on the hoist lets the operator fix the flaw and recheck the shade without moving the shade itself. Depending on the size of the hoist, the operator may also have the ability to check multiple shades simultaneously without the risk of damaging them since he or she is able to keep the shades in one place. The size of the inspection hoist allows the operator to test shades with large widths and lengths with ease. Motorized shades are also easily programmable with the use of an inspection hoist since the shade may be fully pulled down all the way and mounted to the hoist.
